Summary:
To find the coefficient A in the partial fraction A / (x - a),
cover up the factor (x - a) in the original fraction, and substitute x = a into the remaining expression.
This method is applicable for distinct linear factors.
If a linear factor is repeated, then the Cover-Up Rule is only applicable to the highest power of the repeated factor.
The method is not applicable to quadratic factors.
